No:523/21, Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the meeting of Minister Jeyhun Bayramov with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, within her official visit to Azerbaijan
On December 23, 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković.
At the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the future prospects of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Bosnia and Herzegovina and ways to develop comprehensive cooperation in various fields.
The sides, noting the high level of political relations between Azerbaijan and Bosnia and Herzegovina, expressed confidence that joint efforts would be made to further strengthen these ties.
Welcoming the guest, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke with satisfaction about the friendly and cooperative relations between Azerbaijan and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was stressed that the continued support of our countries for each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity lies at the basis of our joint relations, along with respect for the fundamental principles of international law. Azerbaijan's interest in expanding cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina in all areas of mutual interest which would benefit both countries was expressed.
Minister Bisera Turković expressed satisfaction with the visit and the meeting held with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Minister noted that her country is interested in the development of relations with Azerbaijan, and said that the start of practical steps related to the beginning of diplomatic activities of the embassies in both countries would give a positive impetus to the development of relations.
During the meeting, the sides stressed the importance of mutual visits and political consultations between the Foreign Ministries to further develop political dialogue between the two countries.
The sides discussed issues related to the expansion of economic ties between Azerbaijan and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and also noted favorable opportunities for strengthening cooperation in energy, agriculture, tourism, education and humanitarian spheres.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov briefed his counterpart on the current situation in the region, including new realities after the war, the situation in the liberated areas, the threat of landmines, as well as the process of restoration and reconstruction in these lands.
The opposite side thanked Azerbaijan for its assistance in combating the COVID-19 pandemic. The importance of humanitarian projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Bosnia and Herzegovina was also emphasized.
At the meeting, the sides discussed cooperation within international organizations, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
