On the occasion of the 28th anniversary of Khojaly genocide the presentation of the book and screening of the documentary “THEY WILL NEVER GROW UP” was held at the IUS
On February 21, 2020, on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of Khojaly genocide the presentation of the book and screening of the documentary “THEY WILL NEVER GROW UP” by Mrs. Sariyya Muslumgızı was held at the International University Sarajevo in the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo, with the organizational support of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The event was attended by academicians, prominent international law experts, public figures, member of parliaments and representatives of NGOs, diplomatic corps and mass media from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Azerbaijan.
The conference speakers were Rector of IUS Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yildirim, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Bosnia and Herzegovina Prof. Dr. Eldar Hasanov, author of the book Mrs. Sariyya Muslumgızı, Assoc. Prof. Dr. & Dr. Honoris Causa Sabahudin Hadžialić, Professor of the Sarajevo University, Doctor of Law Edin Halapić and Mrs.Leyla Alizada from Khojaly.
The panelists spoke about the sudden attack by the armed forces of Armenia on the Khojaly city in the Nagorno Karabakh region of Azerbaijan at night from February 25 to February 26 in 1992, as well as cruel and merciless killing, severe wounding, taking hostage, torturing and making to go missing of the civilian population of Khojaly town. They underlined also the following points: the crime perpetrated in Khojaly was a part of the systematic violence policy of Armenia against Azerbaijani civilians; this policy is founded on the nzhdeizm ideology which inculcates racial superiority of Armenians and hatred against Azerbaijanis; the events in Khojaly must be classified as a crime of genocide; and Armenia and its political-military leadership bear responsibility for this crime in accordance with the international law.
