Musical tribute to Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s 140th anniversary held in Bosnia and Herzegovina

A commemorative concert was held on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of Uzeyir Hajibeyli at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The event was attended by ambassadors accredited to Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives of the diplomatic corps, heads and delegates of numerous Turkish institutions operating in the country, staff of the Azerbaijani Embassy, Azerbaijani nationals living in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as members of the media, including “Anadolu Balkan” and “TRT Balkan.”

Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vilayat Guliyev, stated that September 18 marks two significant dates in the cultural life of Azerbaijan — National Music Day and the birthday of the great composer and prominent public figure Uzeyir Hajibeyli.

Uzeyir Hajibeyli was not only a monumental figure in Azerbaijan but also opened a new chapter in the history of Eastern music. His works reflect the richness of Azerbaijani musical culture and embody the spirit of the Azerbaijani people at the highest level.

During the concert program, guests enjoyed performances by renowned Bosnian composer Professor Emir Nuhanović, General Manager of the Foundation for Arts, Music, and Ballet Education, along with musicians Armin Smriko and Marija Mastilo. The repertoire featured works by Uzeyir Hajibeyli and other world composers.

Notably, for the first time, the concert program featured performance of Emir Nuhanović’s composition titled “Lullaby for the Children Killed in Khojaly”, dedicated to the children massacred in Khojaly.
